Lived-in Colour is our signature hair colour service that maintains its unique lived-in look even months after you walk out of the salon by preserving your natural root then subtly fading down to your colour of choice using our signature hair painting technique – this means your hair colour looks great even when your roots grow out. Careful colour selection, expert technique, and professional after-care advice by our stylists also means your hair colour will look beautiful at every stage of it’s subsequent fade and evolution.
See the transformation of a steel grey/blue Lived-in Colour example and its evolution over the next 6 months below.
As the original virgin black hair had to be pre-lightened before applying the steel grey/blue colour, our expert stylist Den also described that the colour would eventually fade to ash blonde tips. He would however avoid brassiness or yellow tones (a typical problem with asian hair gone blonde) with careful pre-lightening.
During the 6 months post-colour, there were no additional colour touch-ups done and the colour and hair integrity were maintained purely with monthly Olaplex Hair Restoration Treatments at PREP Luxe and the use of Olaplex No. 3 (retailing at $79 at PREP Luxe) weekly and JOICO purple shampoo & conditioner at home (retailing at $34 each at PREP Luxe).
Root regrowth is clear when comparing the pictures across the 6 months period. However, despite the original blue fading away, the natural and subtle hair painting technique that preserved the natural root resulted in a unique lived-in ash blonde look that still looks uniquely lived-in and natural 6 months later. All this without any further expense or time spent on colouring services!
Lived-in colour prices start from $320 for hair that is shoulder to chest length.* Do ask us about how to get up to 20% off all services with our Store Credits!

We love everything vintage and were delighted to have Maurice our Creative Director and resident specialist in Vintage Hairstyles to create a variety of 50s-inspired hair looks for Overeasy Orchard’s launch campaign shoot!
Victory rolls were a key highlight as we styled the likes of Melody Chen, Charmaine Seah, Aarika Lee, Hanli Hoefer, Victoria Cheng, Jaime Lee and Tjin Lee with her super adorable son Bubu. The bold prints and bright, gorgeous outfits by Lula Rock added to the 50s vibe, adding bursts of colour to the vivid campaign shots set in the classic American diner style decor of Overeasy Orchard. (Photos by our very own multi-talented PREP ladyboss Jacqueline Chang of course!!!)
If you haven’t yet tried the amazing fried chicken and waffles or their ridiculously good milkshakes, don’t wait any longer! Head down to the new Overeasy conveniently located at Liat Towers along Orchard Road where you can take a delicious break from Christmas shopping.
We’ve finally caught our breaths to write this post – Digital Fashion Week was crazy busy for us as our new outlet PREP Luxe located at Capitol Piazza (also the venue of DFW) put us right in the thick of things!
We are so proud of our excellent team who’ve worked so hard throughout this week styling for VIPs and Insiders of DFW – Andrea Chong, Olivia Lazuardy, MillyQ.. the list goes on!
Finally our team styled a crazy number of models backstage for the show of Melissa Koh‘s debut collection for Run After.
Check out some of the highlights of our crazy Digital Fashion Week 2015 experience.
In September, we had the privilege of styling three beautiful models for the presentation of BCBG Max Azria’s AW 2015 collection at their flagship ION Orchard outlet.
Featuring lots of florals both in deep hues and pastels the AW 2015 collection was a delight for all the fashionistas in attendance.
Low chic ponytails were called for so as to perfectly set off with the patterned and textured materials.
It’s been non-stop craziness and business ever since we launched our second full service salon, PREP Luxe at Capitol Piazza. And YES you heard right, we do cut, color and perms now at PREP Luxe!
3 months after our grand opening, we’ve finally caught our breaths and would like to share with some pictures from our grand opening party. Our hearts are full and we are so so so grateful for all the support from our friends and family who turned up for the opening!
Mouawad, the high jewelry house well-known for designing and creating the diamond encrusted Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bras, recently celebrated their 125th Anniversary with a gala dinner for their VIP guests.
We were delighted to have been able to style all the models for the fashion show at the gala event with intricate yet classic and chic hairstyles – a perfect match to show case the timelessly elegant high jewelry by Mouawad whose heritage spans more than a century of creations and traditions in masterful jewelry design and watchmaking.
In collaboration with local homeware and furniture design brand Scene Shang, we are proud to present the Lady Banker Lamp – a more feminine and limited edition of their best selling Banker Lamp with marble touches and in PREP’s signature mint green.
The Lady Banker Lamp truly embodies Scene Shang’s distinct style which is a combination of contemporary with traditional, east and west. This beautiful lamp sits perfectly in our latest PREP Luxe outlet located at the heritage Capitol Piazza building.
Remember to check it out as you treat yourself to your Blowout at PREP Luxe!
The Lady Banker Lamp is retailing at PREP Luxe for $288
We were recently at Mulberry’s garden themed launch of their SS15 Ready To Wear collection. Floral prints and bright hues featured strongly this season and we were at a complete loss as to which item to try on first!!
Some of our PREP Members were able to attend the garden-themed afternoon tea event where they were served champagne & canapes as they shopped. We loved how our PREP Members dropped by PREP first to get blowouts before attending the event in style.
The posie making workshop by Dan Takeda was also such a treat for the guests as they learnt to put together their own floral arrangements to take home.
Thank you Mulberry and Club 21 for having us and our guests, we had a blast!!
Passionate and colorful. Dynamic and vibrant. That’s how Angie Chen lives life, with the occasional pause to reflect and nestle in some down-time with her family over good food. Her ideal weekend is always the perfect balance of both creature comforts and venturing out to explore the new.
It is not surprising then that she names New York and London as her favourite travel destinations, where she relishes in taking in the vibrancy and dynamism the arts, music, food and fashion scene in those cities have to offer. Her love of the vivid and the unique runs through her exuberant approach to life and her wardrobe. As the curator for THE FIFITH COLLECTION, Angie lends her vibrant yet impeccably chic and refined taste, and detailed eye to the selection of the choicest vintage pieces for the online store.
We have the pleasure of having Angie share with us some of her current loves and obsessions. Enjoy!
1. Vintage Christian Lacroix:“I have always been a big fan of Lacroix for his intricate and opulent designs, but this year I am determined to stop buying fast fashion and collect everything Lacroix due to the historical value of each piece.”
2. Le Cinéma Olfactif by Folie A Plusiers Perfumes:“A good friend of mine in Berlin started this perfume project with perfumer Mark Buxton (of Comme des Garcons fame) to create fragrances inspired by films. My personal favourites from this series are Mood Indigo and Virigin Suicides. They smell exactly like what the movie should be.”
3. Glamglow Supermud:“This is my daily solution to the clogged pores in my otherwise clear skin. Such a lifesaver for those problem areas and my skin always feels so smooth after each use.”
4. Benoit Missolin Headgear:“The perfect balance of quirkiness and elegance, a Benoit piece always adds that extra style oomph to my outfits.”
5. Tangle Teezer Comb:“This is my answer to reviving flat and lifeless-looking hair. I reach for it at the end of a long work day to give my hair that gorgeous, voluminous boost.”
